Cassius M. Coolidge was dubbed “The most famous artist you’ve never heard of.” However, many know his most popular painting of dogs playing poker.

Coolidge was a newspaper cartoonist and a prolific illustrator, despite no formal training. He is credited with inventing “comic foregrounds” where one can stick their head through a hole in a scene for a funny photograph.

In 1903, he was hired to create 16 cigar ads. These paintings featured dogs engaged in various human activities, including 8 illustrations of dogs playing poker. His most recognizable, A Friend in Need, decorates our dog bowl.

We have a 14-day return policy. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition as when you received it—unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging.
